Applications for Spring 2025 staff are due January 26, 2025. Applicants do not need to be Honors students, but are expected to maintain a 3.0 GPA.

Roles and Responsibilities

Editor-in-Chief

  • Highest-ranking member of staff
  • Manage team, set meetings, provide updates to staff & adviser
  • Final say in design of publication
  • Review and edit ALL submissions
  • Oversee Collage participation in Student Organization Fair
  • Approve Creative Expression winners 
  • Ensure finalized magazine is distributed as widely as possible

Associate Editor

  • Ensure content quality
  • Review and edit ALL submissions
  • Ensure staff attend meetings and meet deadlines
  • Take place of editor-in-chief when absent
  • Provide guidance to editors
  • Approve Creative Expression winners 
  • Ensure finalized magazine is distributed as widely as possible

PR/Social Media Manager

  • Manage social media accounts, draft social media calendar for the semester
  • Design and distribute “Call for Entries” flyers and social media posts
  • Pitch stories to on-campus media—Sidelines, Student Voices, etc.
  • Increase engagement on official MTSU social media accounts 
  • Collaborate with student organizations
  • Maintain Collage website (see adviser for more information on this)
  • Promote Creative Expression winners
  • Ensure finalized magazine is distributed as widely as possible

Lead Designer

  • Conceptualize and produce appealing layout
  • Draft outline to present at first meeting of the semester
  • Select colors, layouts, and typography
  • Provide final draft to the staff at the design editing meeting
  • Embed videos into digital publication instead of QR code

Assistant Designer

  • Support lead designer with concept design
  • Research current trends and training materials
  • Take notes regarding design at first meeting of semester
  • Assist pr/social media manager with graphic design elements as needed
  • Ensure audio and video submissions are uploaded to Collage SoundCloud/YouTube

Literature Editor

  • Lead literature selection and editing meetings; establish deadlines
  • Following editing meeting, make the decided upon edits to all pieces
  • Determine feature story and ensure completion
  • Final say when staff member editing opinions conflict
  • Select Creative Expression winners

Assistant Literature Editor

  • Communicate with submitters regarding any needed edits
  • Ensure deadlines are met
  • Act as literature editor when absent
  • Take notes during selection and editing meetings
  • Collect notes from staff members who might be absent to meetings to share with group during meetings

Visual Editor

  • Lead visual selection/editing meetings; establish deadlines
  • Following editing meeting, make the decided upon edits to all pieces
  • Determine art/photos to include with feature story
  • Final say when staff member editing opinions conflict
  • Select Creative Expression winners

Assistant Visual Editor

  • Communicate with submitters regarding any needed audio/video files
  • Ensure deadlines are met
  • Act as visual editor when absent
  • Take notes during selection and editing meetings
  • Collect notes from staff members who might be absent to meetings to share with group during meetings

Literature Review Staff

  • Read and grade all assigned literature submissions
  • Participate in the selection and editing meetings

Visual Review Staff

  • Read and grade all assigned visual/audio submissions
  • Participate in the selection and editing meetings
